In Prague an old watch has broken

On Sunday evening, December 27 tourists in Prague witnessed a rare breakdown of the old clock on Old Town Square. The fact that the figures of the apostles permanently revolved around its own axis under the continuous battle chimes.
As it turned out, the reason for failure was that the mechanism of a clock has cracked an old propeller diameter of 6 millimeters. In consequence the figures of the apostles were not moving in a circle, as usual, but spun on the spot. Chimes was beaten continuously for over an hour. The failed screw was 146 years old!
Prague Astronomical Clock has been operating for 600 years. In 1410 astronomer John Schindel commissioned by the city authorities made the astronomical circle, and the master of Mikulas Kodanev did chime mechanism. So a clock that was placed on the south side of Town Hall. Twelve apostles appear in the window at the beginning of each hour.
